The bullet-in-the-dresser story is true and the only reason I’m not dead is that I was standing two or three feet outside his line-of-fire! He was facing the bedroom window to the outside, and turned and drew his pistol and fired (the gun was not loaded…….) and the bullet traveled across the room to the dresser and lodged in the wood underneath the mirror. He said, “Lisle kay! I’ve told you about those spray-net cans!!” What he had told me, I have no idea. Probably that they would blow up all by themselves. But we were married for probably 17 more years after that. (This additional detail is with the Colonel’s permission.)

Lost sense of security, that’s the definition for that nagging feeling. Five years later and my kid is kicking ass, but it’s the lost sense of security and/or end of the innocence that follows me around. I’m Kim’s friend Amy..saw you Friday at CCHMC. We were there for my daughter Nori’s annual liver transplant appt. I walk the fine line between not taking her success for granted and not waiting for the other shoe to drop. If I see you at Solstice, I may ask for a commoner’s description of T-regulatory cells. In late 2011, Nori will be in a limited study where she will be weaned off her single low dose immunosuppresant. There must be some correlation between T-reg and donor match because according to her GI/hep doc, they will start studying T-reg cells in late 2010. Enjoyed reading your work, no wonder Kim thinks the world of you!
